The future isn't written *august energy*
"It means your future hasn't been written yet. No one's has. Your future is whatever you make it. So make it a good one"
I am totally that person who watches movies and feels inspired af after
This past week my boyfriend and I watched the movie Back to The Future series… yes, all three parts because it was that good. Oddly enough I have never seen it before (I know I am so late but I am like that with everything in pop culture lol) and let me tell you this movie caught me so off guard with all the life lessons LOL.
If you haven’t seen it, lemme give you the most surface breakdown.
*semi-spoiler alert*
The year is 1985, and the main characters are a kid named Marty and a scientist who so happens to build a time machine car. Some shit goes down where the kid ends up going back in time to 1955 and now he needs to find the scientist in that year so he can get back to 1985. Since the movie takes place in a small town the kid runs into his parents but since it’s 1955 they are in high school and he ends up friending both of them.
This is what caught my attention. The scientist told the kid to be VERY careful about what he did in 1955 since it could alter the future, including his very own existence. The biggest example of this was that at the beginning of the movie, his dad would get bullied by his boss (I know, a grown-ass man with a family was getting bullied! I was like how is this happening) but things changed in 1955 (due to Marty) and the dad ended up facing that bully so when Marty goes back to 1985 his life is so different. His dad isn’t a loser anymore and his family is thriving.
It was such a beautiful display of the idea that “the choices we make truly impact our life”. The people you choose to keep in your life or not, the places you decide to go or not go, the risks you take or don’t, all of it MATTERS! How terrifying but also so exciting LOL
I don’t believe in destiny. I believe we create our life and how we view ourselves and what we choose to do with our time is what makes up our experience in this lifetime.
So my point, take the risk, do the shit that keeps coming to your mind, and live life on your terms. You are truly only living life for yourself, no one else and it would just suck to be 87 years old looking back and thinking about all the things you could’ve done but didn’t.
This reminded me that there really is no wrong or right way to do life, you get to make it up as you go. How amazing, right? You get to be whoever you want to be.
I have always been a yolo kinda girl but after watching this I am even more motivated to get out of my comfort zone and just see what happens.
